Art inspired by nature
My Story
My creative journey began in 2017 with a simple dream: to create art and someday teach others how to create as well.
Like many artists, my path didn't begin exactly where I expected. I started by purchasing vintage furniture and transforming it with stain and chalk paint. I sold my refinished pieces and eventually joined several vintage shops to showcase my work. While I enjoyed the creative process, I realized I wanted to spend more time making art and connecting with people than sourcing inventory for my booth.
That realization led me to teaching.
I partnered with local Parks and Recreation departments throughout Oregon to offer chalk painting classes. Watching students discover their creativity sparked something in me, and I quickly fell in love with teaching. As the wood sign movement gained popularity, I expanded my offerings and began teaching at wineries throughout Oregon and Washington, coffee shops, private parties, and corporate events. My business grew rapidly, and I was fortunate to build a thriving creative community around my classes.
Then COVID changed everything.
Like many small business owners, my in-person teaching business came to a sudden halt. For several years, I shifted my focus toward family responsibilities and caring for our aging parents. While creativity took a back seat during that season of life, it never truly left me.
When I finally returned to creating art for myself, I felt a renewed sense of purpose. I've always been passionate about learning new techniques and exploring different artistic mediums, which eventually led me to discover alcohol inks.
I was immediately captivated by their fluid movement, vibrant colors, and organic beauty. What began as curiosity quickly became something much deeper. Alcohol inks reignited my confidence, fueled tremendous personal growth, and allowed me to build a creative business that brings me joy every day.
Today, I am proud to be a member of the Three Rivers Art Guild and continue to share my work throughout the Pacific Northwest. Recent highlights include being accepted as a Guest Artist at the Alberta Street Gallery, participating in the Picnic in the Pearl this July, and serving as a guest artist at the Oregon City Art Studios this October.
I am currently developing an Alcohol Ink Beginner Course designed specifically for people who have always wanted to create art but don't know where to start. My goal is to help students build confidence, discover their creativity, and experience the same joy and transformation that alcohol inks have brought into my own life.
I believe creativity isn't reserved for a select few—it's something we all carry within us. Sometimes, we simply need someone to show us where to begin.
I hope you enjoy my art and will someday join me painting with alcohol inks!

“I have to say that I took this DIY rustic sign making class not knowing what to expect. As it turned out, I had the most fun being creative with Theresa’s help! It’s the best class and Theresa made it more special by helping each and every one of us with our questions and “oops”! If you aren’t artsy-craftsy it doesn’t matter. Everyone’s sign is special to them! Thanks Theresa for sharing your time and experience!”
